Save Your Back

While looking for horse trailers, I have come across lots of nifty gadgets and things to use to make life easier.  Some I have used/purchased, some I have just seen and thought would be nice to have someday.   So Saturday will be 'saver' day.  As in, save money, time, effort, your health etc.

I currently have a 3H GN with rear tack and I know that getting the top saddle is a PITA!!  This gadget will do the lifting for you.

From their website:
Lift and Lower your heavy saddle in your trailer easily.

Swing Out models:

Around $1,600

They also have a 5 saddle model.

Straight Model:

Around $1,300
I have no relationships with the companies that I show - I just like the products.

*sigh*  why is everything so expensive though?

Older Paint Mare-Free to good home - Idaho

Gypsy is a thirty year old paint mare. Doing great for her age, and would make great beginners horse, thats what she was for me! Mom says I have to make room for the new horse, so she has to go. Hooves just recently trimmed, doesn't need shoes unless you ride on pavement or gravel a lot, great trail/mountain/hunting horse, or just a companion horse, she has done it all. Thanks for looking, would like to see her go this week so I can get my new horse. I don't have a trailer, so I cannot deliver. FREE TO GOOD HOME ONLY!

While looking for a trailer, I came across this ad.  I am totally disgusted with this girl.  This poor horse has only a few years left at most and she is just dumping her!

Not sure why you would need a camouflage trailer unless you were going to use it as a hunting stand as well.  I would like to see a little more weight on the horse - a better description might help too!

The unique "Bumber" Pull!!

This is a super nice Bumber pull horse trailer that's been re-done. Has been repainted with apoxy paint so it WILL NOT RUST! Very nice inside with new floor and has mats! Also has lights to light up the outside of the trailer when you go to horse shows at night. Has a walk through to small tack area and a small person can escape through tack door. Red and black. This is a quarterhorse trailer but has fit up to a 16 hands horse in it but that horse was very very well behaved! Would be good for 15 hands horses or smaller. Has good tires and lights do work on it! This is not a distress sale. I am FIRM on the $1500

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really hope that it is red and not the color I see on my monitor. Looks like a nice little trailer for a nice little person and a very very nice horse.
I was not aware that trailers were made for certain breeds - all along I thought you bought them based on the SIZE of your horse - no matter what breed.
Update on Sept 21: I guess they really weren't too FIRM as the price came down!  And a new picture.
2 horse bumper pull trailer - Excellent Condition! - $1000 (FL)
2 horse bumper pull trailer. good condition. min. rust. Been re-painted. Floors areonly 1 yrs old!! new mats from corner to corner. Weighed by the DMV and this trailer is light enough to be pulled by V-6 . Was pulled by a small truck the other day and the guy who borrowed it said he didn't feel it behind him! evrything is in working condition. All it needs now is a new home. THis is a QH size trailer. Has fit a 16 hand horse but it was barely fitting him. Fits my 1300 pound 15 hand horse just fine. Was hauled regular to barrel racing shows. I have a larger trailer now so I no longer need this one. Call today. Don't think this trailer will last too long. As long as it's listed it is still availiable .
A picture is worth a thousand words.  I wonder if it will hold together long enough to haul the free firewood?
I Bought It!!!
My "New" 6-8 Horse Van
Tilt Fiberglass front
.
This is where the LQ is going to go.  It is going to be a challenge to install as they have to be relatively easy to remove and restore functionality to the area if/when I decide to sell it and the person does not want the LQ area.  Lots of work ahead.
This thing is so darn big I chopped off the front!  LOL
This is a drop down shelf that is designed to carry hay or a trunk.  This van is unusual in that the shelf is not rusted out.  Most of the older models I have seen are pretty well rusted through.
Wish me luck
No pictures today - I am off to look at a unique horse trailer!  I will take pictures and post them.  I am hoping this one will be the answer to one of my horse transport needs.
I am looking for 2 trailers.  One for camping that will accommodate up to 4 horses (in a pinch) and be comfortable for overnight stays (up to 3 nights) and one inexpensive, lightweight trailer for quick trips around town - either to the vet or to my trainer or a local hunter pace.
Please take a couple of seconds to take my poll - I am wondering if anyone is out there!!  LOL
Welcome SprinklerBandit and Reviews.  I am hoping that there are more of you.  :-)
I welcome any suggestions to improve the blog.  I am enjoying my search for a trailer and hope that others can learn from what I am doing.  If I am successful today, this blog may include some posts on my progress in building a weekender package into the 'trailer.'
BP or GN? A Little of Both
1987 Aluminum Gore 2 horse trailer; straight load; step up; thoroughbred height, rubber mats, fiberglass top, very little wear on tires. Highly maneuverable. Great airflow. $2,500
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.
I really like this little trailer. It is the best of both - a lightweight bumperpull with the ease of towing and backing up a gooseneck. I have been trying to contact the seller, but to no avail. :-(
If anyone knows where another one of these is for sale, let me know!

Is there a window missing?

Older trailer in good usable shape. (CA)

The weeds are really hiding this trailer. Is it similar to the trailer that I posted on August 21? Is the side made of wood? Step up or ramp? So many questions... So little information....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Update on Sept 5:
Trailer is is good usable shape, just not pretty. It has a short ramp and will haul 2 horses. $400 or reasonable offer.
Must have gotten lots of questions.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Update on Nov 7 - still for sale at $400

It's a Cylon!

This horse trailer was left behind when my Dad divorced this Spring. I don't know anything about horse trailers so I've tried to take very detailed pictures. I can only post 4 here so if you're interested and would like to see more, please email me. I do know that the floor board and pad was replaced last winter and has not been used since it was replaced. The plates are expired. The electrical is in good working condition, I have tested it myself. The hitch is in good condition. The tires are also in good working condition. I believe this will hold up to 2 horses, but am not 100% sure. The front of the trailer has a small space that houses a spare tire (which is also in good condition) as well as additional space for horse stuff, I assume. I've also been told that this is a bumper pull trailer. The inside dimensions are 58" wide X 108" long (there is a counter in front that holds food dish that is 35" long) I also have a bunch of other horse 'accessories' I'll throw in for free... Show Sheen, watering device, saddle sore lotion, some toy balls, brushes, harness, etc... all in good condition. I'm not sure what else I should say other than we're very interested in getting rid of this and are asking $950 but would consider other offers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This guy might not know horses or horse trailers, but he sure did put lots more useful information than most people who try to sell trailers.
