Cover Your Trailer - Part 1

The subject of covering up your expensive horse trailer came up on the HTW board.  I decided to look into what is available. This week shows some inexpensive options to cover your trailer.  Next Saturday I will explore some more expensive options.

Triple-Layer Aqua-shed top panel with polypropylene side panels provide maximum protection for your Horse Trailer. Fully breathable fabric allows trapped moisture to evaporate from within. Highly U.V. resistant. Almost waterproof. Passenger-side zipper entry doors allow access during storage. Heavily reinforced rear corners resist tears and snags. Elasticized bottom hems at front and back provide a snug fit. Bunny-ear cinching system contains excess fabric. Strap and buckle secures cover firmly in place underneath trailer. Will work for all Thoroughbred/Standard bumper-pull trailers between 8 and 18 feet long. Cinching system accounts for whether the trailer has a round front or a “v” front. Exclude hitch when determining trailer length. Storage Bag included. (Gray only)

If you want a totally custom cover (very $$$) then here is the place for you:

The way I see these things, if they are not easy to put on and off, I'm not going to bother.  In addition, if I have a door on my trailer to the DR or LQ, I want to be able to get to it easily.  The zipper entry door would be a must have.

Great Pictures of Trailer

1991 Ponderosa $2750 (NC)
Rodeo trailer that has logged many great miles and memories. This stock trailer has been converted to 6' dressing room with air conditioner that hasn't yet been finalized, ready for you to finish with your touches. Tack compartment in rear for two saddles. Comfortably hauls 2 horses but has hauled 3 a few times. Has some rust needs a new paint job. We are selling to get a smaller bumper pull trailer for my son to start pulling on his own.

And the trailer looks like.........???

'Mover' your horse

Big Double Axel Horse Trailer - $1500
This is a big double axel horse trailer for sale; it is in good working condition. We only have one horse left so we no longer need this huge trailer to mover her around.

If you would like more information or to see more pictures please feel free to contact me phone or e-mail.  (CA)
Thanks,
Tom

Tom is right - that is a large trailer to 'mover' his one horse around.  It would probably help sell it if he cleared away the junk though.  Reminds me of a bus - or a trolley car.

I hate finding these.  If anyone is interested, the horse is located in the VA/MD area.

Extend-a-cab

Pickup Extend-a-cab - $350 (IL)
Pickup truck extend-a-cab: Fiberglass unit to add to existing cab with 2 opposing seats and a back exit door. I used this on my 85 Dodge when showing horses and pulling a gooseneck horse trailer and also when pulling our camper and it gave us some extra room with out buying a crew cab truck. I purchased this new at the cost of 1200.00 even at that time it was more expense than a full size topper but you couldn't use a topper and a gooseneck together. I have had this sold a couple times but then the people although said they were buying it never came back with the cash. If you bring cash, and make a reasonable offer , we can deal. It has a small hole in the door panel where a garden tractor got to close. It will fit the dodges and fords of the 80s but I don't know what else. I have quite a few photos that I can e-mail. Mounting Total width is 69" with a 4" x 32 1/2' lip on both sides. Burgandy in color but some of the clearcoat is pealing off.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is it legal to have someone sitting in this thing when you are driving??  Are there seatbelts?
Save money by not getting a true extended cab??  Not me  :-)
Really Strange Homemade Inline
Inline Homemade Gooseneck Horse Trailer (Stock 2009-021)
This Trailer is 18'long, 4'6" Wide 6'8" High, Safetied in Fall of 2008 Make an offer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks to retento.

I have to agree with retento - that is one (unique) UGLY trailer!
Looks like it has very minimal ventilation and the loading/unloading logistics could be dangerous.  And with the single axle/one tire per side combo - a very rough ride!

Vintage 1947

Vintage Thoroughbred Horse Trailer - $800 (WA)
Price reduced on this 1947 Brown Industries nice aluminum ramp load trailer with single axle. Extra tall for your thoroughbred or can be used for any purpose. Excellent condition for it's age, has an escape door thru the front, and storage underneath the mangers. All the lights work perfectly. Needs tabs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tabs?  Does that mean a license plate?  Or an inspection?  Or what?
This is a nice looking trailer - especially for a 1947.  It's 62 yrs old - ready to retire!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Nov 7 update:
I found this same trailer on another site and it was at $1500 - quite a reduction down to $800!!  More pictures too. Looks 'space age.'
Did they get the fenders from a 1947 Dodge and just put them on backwards?  They both have the 4 raised 'stripes'
