Sad little filly

2 year old bay filly - $50 (KS)
There is a bay filly in my barn that needs to go to a home that will love her. My son inadvertently bid on her at the auction. She is thin and I think has a dropped hip. Horse folks say that can be rehab'd in six weeks. She has her coggins paperwork, have no idea about shots or worming. We wormed her on 12-7-09. Doesn't seem like she has been handled much, but she loaded into the trailer, wasn't sure about coming back out. She seems fairly calm for a horse that has just been run through the auction lot. Currently she is around 14 hands, long legs and may get a bit taller, has a long white blaze on her face. She should turn into a pretty mare. I am asking $50 to cover what the auctioneer stuck us with and the gas money to haul her home. I don't want to have to haul her to the auction on Saturday, but I really have no use for her. She is getting plenty of good hay and grain plus a little weight builder. You can have the weight builder with the filly, we won't have a use for it when she's gone. I took photo's this morning 12-8-09, but remember it is dark when I go to work, and dark when I come home. Pictures are about as good as they get. First photo shows her right hip, slightly lower. Second image she is standing downhill.

Good grief!!!  If anyone is interested, she is posted on the Lawrence, Kansas craigslist.

Save Your Tires

From the website:
4 Pack. This will flash a red light when an air pressure loss occurs. When screwed onto the tire air valve of any properly inflated tire, it will record this pressure permanently. When pressure loss exceeds 8 psi, the LED light flashes. If flashing, add air to the tire, reinstall, and the flashing will stop. Battery life is 2 yrs. 3 weeks with the light on. Pressure range of over 50 PSI. $31.75

A Box on Wheels

Three horse trailer - $1600(TX)
Three horse slant load trailer with removable dividers. Trailer is extra tall and extra wide. It has a lockable saddle rack area in the back, and a tiny dressing room up front. Dual axle, bumper pull and steel construction. I am not looking to trade it for horses, but I would consider a partial trade for a 1/2 lease at a nice barn (I will only be here for another year- do not want to buy another horse). I would also consider trading this three horse trailer and my 1994 Dodge Diesel PU which is in awesome condition for a newer Dodge Diesel PU. Please reach out to me at xxx-xxx-xxxx

I think this is the closest thing to a box-shaped horse trailer I have seen.

Save Your Horse - First Aid Kit to Keep in Trailer

Something we need to have and hope to never use.  A well-stocked first aid kit can mean all the difference.  Make sure you keep your supplies well-stocked and up to date.  Personally, I keep my first aid stuff in a plastic tool box.  I do have plans to get a wall mounted box for my trailer to keep it up and out of the way.

Here is a generic list of supplies to have with you when trailering from EquiSpirit trailers -

From the website:
The following items assembled into an emergency kit will help you handle most situations. These items are not only for use on the trailer, but are good to have around the barn. Discuss this list with your own veterinarian, he may have other suggestions that are appropriate for you and your situation.

•ROLL COTTON - 2 rolls
•ROLL GAUZE - 4 rolls ( 4" or 6")
•GAUZE SQUARES
•CLEAN STANDING BANDAGES - 2 quilt or fleece with outer wraps
•ADHESIVE TAPE
•24" SECTION OF 6" PVC PIPE which has been split in half lengthwise - for splinting; check that diameter of pipe fits your horse.
•COHESIVE FLEXIBLE BANDAGE - 2 - 4" (Vetrap or Co-flex)
•STICKY ROLL BANDAGE - Elastikon
•THERMOMETER
•STETHOSCOPE
•MOSQUITO FORCEPS
•SCISSORS
•TWITCH
•ANTISEPTIC SOAP - Betadine etc.
•HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
•ANTIBACTERIAL OINTMENT - Nitrofurozone Dressing or Triple Antibiotic
•ANTIBACTERIAL SPRAY POWDER - Furox Spray
•OPTHALMIC OINTMENT AND SALINE EYE WASH - Without cortizone or steriods
•BUTAZOLIDIN PASTE (bute)
•BANAMINE GRANULES OR PASTE
•BUCKET
•WATER - 10 gallons or more

All medications should be given on the advice of your own veterinarian or the veterinarian treating the condition. IMPROPER USE OF TRANQUILIZERS AND OTHER MEDICATION CAN RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR HORSE.
Know normal vital signs and how to take them. More detailed information about first aid treatment, preventing stress and injury, and pre-trip preparation can be found in Hawkins Guide: Equine Emergencies on the Road by James Hamilton, DVM, available through EquiSpirit Trailer Company call 910-692-1771 or toll free 877-575-1771.

Bare metal + water = more RUST!

Old Horse Trailer - $600 (NC)
Old Horse Trailer...Twin axle and frame in good shape...NO TITLE. Asking $600.00 but will accept best offer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not sure why you would be power washing a rusty trailer and getting the wheels/brakes even rustier.  It should be sandblasted, repaired and painted.  $600 is WAY too much.
Projects are FUN!
$1,000 starting bid on eBay (OH)
For sale is a 3 horse slant trailer. I started to restore it but realized that I don’t have the time to get it done. The floor seems to be in good shape and there are three heavy rubber mats on the floor. I was planning on replacing all of the lights so I took the lenses and bulbs off the marker lights but still have them to go with the trailer. The tires are in good shape but do have some weather cracking. The spare is like new. The trailer plug is a 7 flat RV plug. I don’t know the weight on the trailer and have not titled it but will get the title transferred this week so it will be ready for transfer to the new owner.
This is for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. Please ask questions and I encourage you to stop and inspect the trailer before you bid.
Thanks for looking
More info:
1993 Sundowner, Trailer brakes both axels, 2 5/16" ball hitch, tack room plus two dividers for the three horses, about 7ft tall x 5 1/2ft wide x 16ft long inside with all the dividers open.
Trailer weight on title is 3650# and GVRW 12700#
Again feel free to stop by to look at it.
Yet another person realizes that a project trailer is a HUGE committment - both time and $$!  It sold for $1,050 on eBay
