THIS HORSE TRAILER WAS CUSTOM MADE IN 1978 . MADE EXTREMELY WELL AND REINFORCED ALL AROUND. IT IS A HEAVY, STURDY TRAILER.. THE MOVEMENT OF HORSES IS HARDLY FELT. NOT OFTEN USED AND KEPT UP WELL.. OVERALL LENGTH OF THE TRAILER IS 28 FT LONG AND 7.5 FT WIDE. THE LQ AREA EXCLUDING THE SLEEPER IS 11FT LONG. HAS 4 NEW 8 PLY TIRES ON CHROME RIMS TO ASSURE A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS.. HAS 2 NEW SPARE TIRES IN THE REAR OF THE UNIT. CARRIES 2 HORSES AND FEED VERY EASY.

THE WHOLE UNIT IS STURDY AND COMPACT WITH A SPACIOUS FEELING.

Today's blog is one of my favorites!!  Beverly actually purchased the trailer that was posted here on Feb 4.  She has already done quite a bit of work to makeit look good - I look forward to seeing pictures of her progress.  I still want to see the inside!  :-)

I was looking for information on an old Triggs trailer I bought from Indiana and found your website. How funny! I found the trailer on the Feb 4 blog... It's the one that said "DOGS" all over it. I like weird old trailers anyway, and was looking for a light fiberglass one to put a horse or two in to go to the park, or store my 4 wheelers or some hay. I'm living proof that the saying "there's an ass for every seat" is true. This thing is sooo ugly, it's cool. Kinda like a bad car wreck, you have to look because it's horrible and facinating at the same time!

I have started restoring it and have included a before and after pic of the exterior to show what new tires and wheels, some EZ-Off oven cleaner , and three hours of my time can do to start polishing this turd!


The dressing room does not have any dog cages but I think at some point they had kennel cabs or some similar type of cage in there. Instead of a solid wall, it has a steel expanded metal wall for ventilation, which further reinforced the steel frame inside the fiberglass. The hay rack on the roof is bolted into the steel frame and is actually really solid. You called it right on the pool ladder, but it has no-skid on all the rungs and on the edge of the roof, so it is not hard to go up or down at all. I live in south Florida, so I will never put hay up there, but it will easily hold my John Lyons portable corral panels or other non perishable stuff I don't wanna put in the dressing room.


The trailer is 8' wide and has three slants inside. It also has six roof vents with fans, sliding windows all around, and side vents. All the lights, including the loading lights ,work, and the only repairs it needs are one board in the floor, and new draw pull latches on the horse windows.


This thing is so randomly cool...I think turd trailers need luv too! I will send you more pics when I get it completely finished. Let me know what you think...

Imperial 2 horse bumper pull - $1950 (MI)
Late Model by Imperial Trailer Company, Repainted in 2007-New Electrical-New Tires, includes full size spare tire.The Trailer is solid- Floor in excelent shape - Body has no rust holes and minor surface rust. It has two small spots in manger and tack area they were there when I bought trailer size of quarter, I applied rust stop before painting and the holes have never gotten larger . There is an escape door on the passenger side of trailer and room for tack and supplies under both sides of manger. This Trailer has been to Texas and back with no problems. Height 6ft.5inch, total lenght of trailer from tounge to tail end is 11feet. My horse is 15.2 hands and long and he fits with no problem. I am not saying this Trailer is perfect but it is solid and for the past 5 years it got my horses and I to every event!

We painted the interior and add a new wood floor. We gutted out a camper and made the front of this horse trailer a livin quarters. The table and chairs make into a bed. You can also make a bed above the table. There is a queen sized mattress above gooseneck part too. We don't really want to sell, but we have to due to a garnishment. We need to sell ASAP. We are asking $3500 or best offer to pay off our debt and stop the garnishment

I almost passed by this ad and then I saw the front wheels!  Looks like a lot of moving parts to maintain..... Anyone know anything about this type of design?  Is it easier to pull? Harder to turn?  Advantages/disadvantages?  I bet it would be hard to back up!

Three horse slant load trailer with removable dividers. Trailer is extra tall and extra wide. It has a lockable saddle rack area in the back, and a tiny dressing room up front. Dual axle, bumper pull and steel construction. I am not looking to trade it for horses, but I would consider a partial trade for a 1/2 lease at a nice barn (I will only be here for another year- do not want to buy another horse).
